Office based in Central London (Leicester Square) with flexible working (both in-office and at home). Some international travel, including to Sri Lanka.

Main Responsibilities
The Deputy Campaign Director’s role will be to support the Campaign Director across all aspects of the organisation’s work, including research, communications, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, and administration.
This is a great opportunity for a proactive person committed to the multi-ethnic, non-partisan approach of the Sri Lanka Campaign and passionate about peace, justice, and reconciliation in Sri Lanka. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills as a human rights campaigner and build strong professional networks with human rights defenders within and outside Sri Lanka.
Candidates should have a clear understanding of human rights or transitional justice concepts and a willingness to quickly develop their knowledge in post. An understanding of Sri Lanka’s history and current human rights situation would be an advantage.
Candidates should be confident written and spoken communicators and be able to communicate complex ideas in a persuasive and effective manner. The Deputy Campaign Director will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and projects.
Candidates should have strong attention to detail and those with experience of research or human rights monitoring are strongly encouraged to apply. We are looking for individuals who will engage with a broad range of stakeholders in a sensitive, thoughtful, and professional way. Demonstrable experience of running campaigns will be advantageous.
This role is flexible, with the opportunity to take on significant responsibility and develop skills in a wide variety of areas.
Key Tasks
To monitor the political and human rights situation in Sri Lanka
To conduct independent desk research and produce in-depth research reports on human rights issues in Sri Lanka
To manage, source, and produce content for the Sri Lanka Campaign’s website and social media channels
To assist the Campaign Director in developing and delivering public campaigns and face- to-face advocacy work, particularly with the UN Human Rights Council and key member states
To design visuals to display data and research concisely and creatively for use on social media and in written materials
To engage with human rights defenders, international partners, and our network of volunteers and
To work with the Campaign Director to develop the organisation’s fundraising strategy, including running fundraising appeals, managing budgets, and drafting grant funding applications
To deputise for the Campaign Director when required
Person Specification
Essential
A passion for human rights and commitment to a multi-ethnic and non-partisan approach to human rights and peacebuilding in Sri Lanka
Strong project management skills, the ability to prioritise and work to agreed deadlines with limited supervision
Experience of carrying out independent research with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to write for a variety of audiences and communicate complex ideas and sophisticated analysis to a non-specialist audience
Experience of campaigning, research, or face-to-face advocacy with decision makers
Ability to build professional relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
Knowledge of human rights or transitional justice concepts
Desirable
An understanding of the recent history and politics and the current human rights situation in Sri Lanka
Relevant academic qualification (for example, in international law, human rights, peacebuilding or conflict studies)
Experience of using social media in a campaigning context, preferably with a human rights focus, and experience of managing websites
