Simon Long

He is editor-at-large at The Economist, where he has worked since 1995 in a variety of roles, including Asia editor, finance editor, international editor, South Asia bureau chief based in Delhi, South-East Asia correspondent in Bangkok and, for six years in Singapore, author of the Banyan column on Asian affairs. He was previously a reporter at the BBC World Service for ten years, based in London, Beijing and Singapore. In a previous career, he was a merchant banker for nine years with Morgan Grenfell in London and Singapore.
