“No matter how much time passes, skipping accountability recreates structural violence cycles that cannot be tackled from the periphery. This is why SLC’s work is very important, to monitor, question, and recognize what is otherwise erased from records, but never from the victims’ memories.”

Chrystine Mhanna has spent her career capturing public interest stories. As a journalist and media strategist, she has developed capacity building modules, advocacy projects, and innovative productions, including podcasts and short video series, across the Arab region. Her work has spanned issues including enforced disappearances, torture, sexual and reproductive health rights, and feminist causes, among others. In Lebanon, she engaged closely with policymakers on legal and policy reform, working alongside embassies, donors, and grassroots groups to ensure that legal change and implementation are delivered.

Chrystine founded Bala Label, a grassroots media hub built to make human rights stories creatively more accessible, and holds a scholarship awarded MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She now brings that same advocacy conviction to supporting justice and accountability in Sri Lanka.
